Burley R. Johnson, a native of Jacksonville, FL and 23-year U.S. Air Force Veteran, began his line dancing career in September 2009 with the instructors of Luv2Dance. Under the wings of his instructors, he began developing and learning different styles of line dancing. Amazed by a world of soul line dance he never knew existed, he began to explore urban line dance in other regions and cities. Inspired by Denise Bryant of Music2YourFeet, he decided to try his skill at instructing. He began teaching at Denise's various locations in DC, Glenarden, and Glenn Dale, MD. He also teamed up with Style and Rhythm, Saundra Richardson, where he received most of his advanced dancing. Later he became a member of The Gentleman of Line Dance (G.O.L.D.), and also formed Between The Lines (BTL) Soul Line Dancers.
Between The Lines Soul Line dancers was formed in Maryland - January 2012 under the leadership of Burley Johnson. The group was inspired and birthed through Burley's passionate desire to teach the Art of Soul Line Dance. Through the teamwork of Co-Instructor, Sharon Johnson, Between The Lines Soul Line Dancers have developed line dance classes in Lanham, Severna Park, Waldorf, Indian head, and Bowie Maryland.
Between The Lines have performed various showcases throughout the Maryland and Virginia area. Their original soul line dances showcases include "Young, Wild, and Free" (2012); "BTL Groove" (2012), "Sweet Love" (2013), "So Happie" Gospel Line Dance (2013), "Somebody Else" (2013), and Heart Beat (2014)
They have also showcased a dance choreographed by Wilma & TJ Wright of J&J Soulful Steps, "Wright Groove" and a dance created by Yvette Sutton "Nod ya Head". They have performed for African American History and Women's Month programs at prominent locations and at Various Community events.
BTL has Cheerful team of instructors and members that thrive on the opportunity to help others learn to do the latest line dances and become acclimate into the line dance community through their fun and challenging line dance classes.
